Prior to our family trip to Peru, I extensively researched local companies which would offer a non traditional, authentic Peruvian experience. I had the pleasure of corresponding with Sofia at Cultural Immersions, who suggested a Christmas Day visit to a local Quechuan community high in the Andes. Sofia worked with my wife and I on getting the itinerary set up and then also spearheaded the purchase of Christmas gifts and school supplies for this rather remote village. This tour, plain and simply, was a life changing experience for our entire family as we spent the entire day with over 200 kids and their families sharing stories, opening presents, eating and singing. It was a Christmas that we will never forget! Our guides, Eduardo and Hannah were helpful and polite in coordinating the activities of the day, which concluded with a visit to another local village Amaru, where the local women dressed us in their ceremonial clothing and then cooked lamb and guinea pig for us! My tour with Cultural Immersions has changed the way that I will travel from here on out and certainly gave my family an authentic day in the life of what life in the high Andes is like for the people who live there. The hailstorm even made it seem more magical!
We visited Peru toward the end of October and used Cultural Immersion to visit Pisaq, Maras, Moray, and the Sacred Valley on two separate days. Booking was easy and straight forward. We were picked up at our hotel and traveled directly to the sights we wanted to see. Willow was great telling us about the history and culture. We felt safe with our driver Carlos. We heard about other guides from other companies with limited English. We had no problem communicating and felt well informed. The food was great. The package was exactly what we wanted. A lot of special places and interesting people. A full day experience!
Thanks to Eduardinho and his team we were so well looked after. We saw such amazing places and were given opportunities to enjoy the culture and people. I am very grateful to Cultural Immersion. I will be back. Thank you
