In the morning, your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel for your city tour of Quito. You will wander through the beautiful historical streets to learn about the history and stories of this marvelous capital city. Some places that you will visit are the Independence Plaza, which is lined by the Archbishop´s Palace, the Municipal Palace, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. You will also visit La Compañía Church, a stunningly beautiful and rich church designed with the style of the Spanish Baroque Architecture and decorated using intricate gold leaf designs and wood carvings. Another impressive church is the San Francisco Church, which consists of a temple, a series of chapels, and a convent. This church covers a significant area of land that was used as a market center and a place of significant strategic and historical importance for the indigenous population of Quito. You will also visit Mitad del Mundo, the Middle of the World, a monument and museum park dedicated to the equator. The site depicts the equatorial line and contains a monument commemorating the first Geodesic mission of the French Academy of Science, a museum about the indigenous ethnography of Ecuador, a planetarium, and a model of Quito City. In the afternoon, you will return to your hotel where you will have the rest of the evening to spend at your leisure.
In the morning, you will take a flight from the mainland of Ecuador to the Galapagos islands. Upon arrival at Baltra, travelers pass through an airport inspection point to ensure that no foreign plants or animals are introduced to the islands. As soon as you have passed the inspection and baggage claim, your tour guide will pick you up and accompany you on the short bus ride to the harbor. Motorized rafts, called ‘Pangas’ will transport you to the M/C Galapagos Seaman Journey and our crew will welcome you onboard. After departure and lunch, the first island visit is made. First of all, you will visit Kicker Rock, also known as the Sleeping Lion because of its resemblance, which is located off the coast of San Cristobal. The remains of a lava cone eroded by the sea, the two vertical rocks rising 500 feet from the ocean form a small channel that is navigable by small boats. This natural monument has become a favorite site for travelers due to the many tropical birds, frigates, and boobies that fill the surrounding air. Beneath the sea, the nearly crystal waters offer a brilliant show of colorful tropical fish and invertebrates. Afterward, you will visit Lobos Island, which is located about an hour by boat from Port Baquerizo Moreno. On the island, we will take you on a hike of approximately one hour. There is a small population of blue-footed boobies and common frigate birds nesting here. You can also observe the two species of sea lions present in the archipelago.
In the morning, we will take you to ´Natural Galapaguera´ which is a good place to observe Galapagos tortoises in their natural environment. In the afternoon, we will head towards Pitt Point, which is located on the north of San Cristobal island. On San Cristobal island, you will be able to spot endemic species such as lava lizards and red-footed boobies. Additionally, the view is impressive when you walk up to the high part of the island. If you are lucky, you might also be able to see the red-footed booby and the Chatham Mockingbird only found here on San Cristobal Island.
In the morning, we will take you to Punta Suarez, a rocky land spot, where you will be able to spot one of the most impressive and varied colonies of seabirds in the Galapagos. Along with its southern shore, high cliffs rise up from the sea offering spectacular views of soaring birds and of the blow hole where water spouts up to 50-75 feet into the air according to the intensity of the surf.In the afternoon, we will visit Gardner Bay, which is located on the north-eastern coast of Hood. It provides an excellent beach for relaxing, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and the opportunity to observe sea lions. You will also be able to observe sharks in the crystal clear ocean waters.
Today, we will take you to Floreana Island. This site offers probably the best flamingo lagoon in Galapagos; it is also one of the largest on the islands. It’s situated between two tuff lava cones that give the area a special atmosphere. There are various species of shorebirds to observe besides flamingos; the most frequent are common stilts, white-checked pintail ducks, and other migratory birds. It is very interesting to see the two distinct beaches: “The Green Beach” (due to its high percentage of olivine crystals in the sand) and the “Flour Sand Beach” which is made up of coral. In the afternoon, you will visit the Post office bay and the Baroness Lookout. Historically, this site is the location of a wooden barrel that was placed there in the 18th century by the crew of a whaling ship. It has been used since this time by mariners and tourists as a post office. The idea is to carry letters or postcards to their destination by hand. Apart from being the Post Office Barrel, this site was the landing area for some of the first colonists.Afterward, we will continue to the north of the island and will ascend to an elevated slope to enjoy a beautiful view at the Baroness Lookout. It is said that Baroness Eloisa Von Wagner loved this place and spent several hours watching the horizon. Within walking distance (30 m), you will find the ruins of what is known as her house. From this lookout, the landscape covers the coastline from the Enderby islet to Post Office Bay, as well as Cerro Pajas, the pool of flamingos and the wide forest of Palo Santo.
Although the great majority of Galapagos visitors come here to observe and appreciate natural wonders, it is also interesting to learn how the protection and conservation of the islands are carried out. The main attractions are the National Park information center, the Van Straelen Exhibition Hall, the Breeding, and Rearing Center for young tortoises and adult Galapagos tortoises in captivity. After the morning excursion, you will be taken to the airport for your flight back to the mainland.
